At MPFT’s Research and Innovation Department, we’re excited to participate in #Red4Research 2024 - an initiative that invites everyone to wear red in support of those involved in health and social care research. Whether it’s conducting studies, participating in trials, or working behind the scenes, #Red4Research is a chance to show appreciation for the incredible contributions being made in this field.
Research drives the innovation that leads to breakthrough treatments, improved systems, and cutting-edge techniques that make a real impact on people’s lives. This campaign not only celebrates these advancements but also the learning legacies and collaborations that have shaped healthcare for the better.
Throughout the day, we’ll be sharing images of MPFT and partner colleagues proudly wearing red in support of research, and even our pets are getting involved! Additionally, we’ll be highlighting key research projects, showcasing how collaborative efforts have driven progress in health and social care research.
Join us in celebrating the power of research and the incredible teams behind it!

Impactful Research Projects
MPFT R&I colleagues have the privilege of working on a range of impactful research projects that drive innovation in healthcare. Through the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent and Shropshire Telford and Wrekin Health and Care Research Partnership (SSHERPa), we’ve partnered with the Voluntary and Community Sector to engage with under-represented communities in health and care research, expanding inclusivity in our studies.
Our LENSE programme serves as a research forum within MPFT’s Health & Criminal Justice services, aiming to improve understanding of the justice community’s barriers and needs.
We’re also supporting innovative projects like the Brave Inclusion Overdose (BIO) wristband, enhancing safety and awareness.
Working in collaboration with North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust, our clinical research assistants and practitioners are contributing to the Social Functioning in Alzheimer’s study, led by University College London.
Additionally, we are working alongside University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust to deliver complex clinical trials focusing on Alzheimer’s treatment.
Our partnership with Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust allows us to share expertise and best practices in conducting complex clinical trials, furthering research that makes a difference.
We also proudly hosted R&I information stands at St George’s Hospital, Cheadle Hospital, and the Haywood Hospital, offering staff, patients, and visitors the opportunity to learn more about the important research happening at MPFT.
