In the UK, vaccines save thousands of lives every year. They are the most effective way to prevent infectious diseases. Vaccines have the potential to help us beat coronavirus (COVID-19).

COVID-19 Vaccine Clinical Trial

A Phase III clinical trial to compare the immune responses of two vaccines against COVID-19: VLA2001 (the product being tested) and AZD1222 (the COVID-19 vaccine developed by AstraZeneca). We will also be looking at the safety of VLA2001.

We are looking for volunteers to take part in our COVID-19 vaccine clinical trial.  If you are aged 18 or over and in stable health, you could be eligible to participate. The study involves up to 8 visits over a period of around 13 months. An inconvenience fee will be offered to participants.

Who can take part?

Midlands Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking for volunteers to participate in a clinical trial studying an investigational vaccine against COVID-19 starting in May 2021. This is a Phase 3 trial to test whether VLA2001 produces more antibodies than a licensed COVID-19 vaccine. The study will also look at the safety of the vaccine.

Further information can be found on the study website: or in the study brochure
