The 2024 MPFT Research and Innovation Conference, held on April 18th, showcased research across mental and physical health, social care, and public health. Attendees enjoyed expert talks, interactive workshops, and networking, with a focus on collaboration and innovation. The event highlighted ongoing research and opportunities for involvement, receiving positive feedback for its engaging content and research culture.

The Midlands Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) Research and Innovation (R&I) Department were proud to host the 2024 MPFT Research and Innovation Conference on 18th April 2024.

Open to all staff and partners who are interested in finding out more about research at MPFT, the sold out event took place at the Education and Development Centre at St. George’s Hospital, where colleagues were welcomed by MPFT Chief Executive Officer, Neil Carr.

The packed agenda covered mental health, physical health, social care, public health, research engagement and involvement opportunities and included expert-led presentations, interactive workshops and networking.

Lunch time provided an opportunity to visit stands, view posters exhibited as part of a poster competition and a chance to talk to staff with expertise in research and evaluation, to find out how you can get involved in research.

Ruth Lambley-Burke, Director of Research and Innovation said “I want to say a big thank you to all those involved in the conference and to those that attended. This was our first conference since gaining university status and since COVID-19 and it was fantastic to showcase so many excellent examples of research and innovation from staff across the Trust and Keele University and the positive impact these projects have had on our service users and our communities.”

Feedback was really positive with colleagues saying “I find the MPFT staff to be very collaborative and welcoming, which is of course very helpful from the perspective of another organisation” and “It's evident the research culture you have created at MPFT and I wish other Trusts in the region had the same culture and events.”

The event created a platform to highlight the breadth of research ongoing within the Trust and opportunities to get involved: “It was so fascinating to hear about the current research running within the trust, with so many projects I wasn't aware of. I particularly found the workshops most useful as they were interactive and an opportunity to gain contacts”

Thank you to all who attended and supported the R&I Conference 2024!
