MPFT Consultant Rheumatologist awarded honorary professor title by Keele University page thumbnail

MPFT are delighted to announce that Professor Jon Packham has received the prestigious award of Honorary Professor of Rheumatology from Keele University’s School of Medicine.

This partnership with Keele University allows for the continuous collaboration with clinical academics and patients across the UK and Europe.

Jon is a Consultant Rheumatologist and Associate Medical Director for Physical Health at MPFT; a clinical academic rheumatologist with an international reputation in interventional and epidemiological spondyloarthritis research, research grants exceeding £7 million and over 110 academic publications. 

He has led numerous pharmacological studies in rheumatology/infectious diseases and in 2020 was principle investigator for a covid vaccine study (Novovax) recruiting over 600 patients across Staffordshire. He has recently been awarded a national NIHR programme grant over £2.5 million to improve how patients with axSpA are referred from primary care into specialist rheumatology.
